Urban Safari Vehicle
Well, I’ve collected it! I now have my zebra striped smart car and I’ve already fallen in love with him. I’ve decided he’s a little boy car and I’ve called him Herb. This is because zebras are herbivores and also because it serves as a little homage to a certain white VW Beetle.
Having driven all over north Manchester today Herb does attract a fair bit of attention. However, since someone stopped to let me out of the Asda car park (which never normally happens) I’ve decided that this is a good thing. I’m hoping that people will let me onto the roundabout where I get stuck every morning as well, just so they can have a proper nosey as we drive past. This is probably wishful thinking though.
It’s going to take a few days (or maybe weeks) to get properly used to driving my new little smart. It’s quite different to a normal car, however, now is not the time for a review. I’ll be completing one of those in a few weeks when I have a bit more experience to share. What I can say is that so far it’s great fun and I was very surprised that Mark agreed to go for a spin so readily. I really thought that he’d refuse to even test out the passenger seat let alone actually be seen roaming around Manchester in my car. He was surprisingly easy to coax into a little shopping trip however. Now he’s seen my vision in the flesh though I think he really rather likes it.
